Tongwei Solar, based in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in southwestern China, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tongwei Co., Ltd.. Since entering the photovoltaic (PV) market in 2006, Tongwei has grown into a fully integrated PV enterprise, covering the entire PV industry chain. This includes high-purity polysilicon and wafers, high-efficiency solar cells and PV modules, and PV power plant operations. Tongwei is the first PV enterprise listed in the Fortune Global 500.

Tongwei is renowned for its global leadership in the polysilicon sector, with a capacity of over 900,000 tons, making it the world's largest supplier. It has also held the top spot in global solar cell shipments for eight consecutive years, with an over 140 GW production capacity.

In late 2022, Tongwei entered the module business and quickly achieved remarkable success. By 2023, it ranked 5th in global module shipments, with an existing production capacity of 90+ GW. Tongwei has developed a diverse module product range for residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale power plants, serving clients in over 70 countries and regions.
