Driven by upcoming innovations, energy storage is one of the main pillars of the renewable energy mix of the future. The ees AWARD addresses this significance and annually honors the best innovations in the industry.

This webinar features the ees AWARD Winners 2020 FENECON, Webasto and ZnR Batteries presenting on the hot topic “The Future of Energy Storage: From Plug and Play to Second Life to New Materials”. Join the webinar to gain insights into the latest innovations in the field of energy storage.

During the webinar participants can submit their questions to get them answered by the experts in the live Q&A. In addition, both the recording and the speakers' presentations are made available to all registrants after the webinar.

Our Guests

Fabian Eckl, Head of Technical Development of Energy Storage Systems and R&D, FENECON

Tinkering with electrical systems from an early age, Fabian Eckl trained as an electrician and studied electrical engineering. During his studies, he joined FENECON as a master's student and, after successfully completing his studies, built up the technical development department for power storage systems. Today, he heads this department as well as R&D.

As a pioneer for the energy transition, he developed systems that shape the future and was one of the leading architects of the stackable high-voltage batteries for storage systems that are now used worldwide. Especially in the residential storage sector, this technology enables modular scaling of storage systems' performance. He also developed a modular spare parts storage system for e-vehicles with an open-technology and future-oriented industrial storage concept, for which FENEOCN received the ees Award 2020 for this innovation.

Dr. Johann Schwenk, Strategy Manager, Webasto Battery Systems

Johann is responsible manager for the global electric mobility strategy at Webasto focusing Battery Systems. Webasto as global innovative systems partner to almost all automobile manufacturers is among the top 100 suppliers worldwide. As innovation and technology leader, Webasto also offers advanced solutions in E-Mobility.

Before, Johann was in charge for co-evolution and implementation of the electric mobility strategy for the Free State Bavaria as Head of Competence Center Electric Mobility at Bayern Innovativ. In this role he contributed to the market run up on state level, and was leading the €130 million multi-project of German government Showcase Electric Mobility Bavaria-Saxony to contribute to the market preparation on federal level & roll out projects on EU level. As researcher for Innovation & Technology Management with focus on different industries and Junior Consultant in the Automotive sector Johann built solid expertise in using methods & tools as well as in project management. He is holding a PhD in Management, a Diploma in Economics & a Diploma in Business Administration.

Xavier Romon, VP Marketing & Sales, ZnR Batteries

Xavier Romon graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Paris Engineering school in 1984, completed by an executive MBA at ESSEC Business School, Xavier Romon has a successful experience of developing consumer electronic products in international markets and marketing of energy services. He has a 15-year track record in international business development at PHILIPS, including one year in the Netherlands and 3 years in Germany. He then worked for 18 years at EDF Commerce, where he was responsible for marketing B2B offers and developing services and energy efficiency. Today he is dedicated to the commercial development of Zinium, convinced of the major contribution that clean and recyclable stationary storage systems can bring to the global energy transition.
